I was contacted by Subway to help get out the news
of their promotion to help restock the shelves of
Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia
I am not being compensated in any way
for this post. It is just the right thing to do!

Come by for lunch with a friend or bring your family. This is an opportunity to teach your children the concept of giving to those less fortunate. In addition, you are teaching them healthy eating habits
with Subway's healthy menu. The food drive will take place during Subway's normal operating hours, August 22, 2013.
This particular promotion is taking place in the coastal Georgia counties (listed below). Please check with your local Subway to determine what promotion may be taking place in your area.
Don't forget August 22nd
Here’s how it will work:
- One-day only food drive at local SUBWAY® restaurants on August 22. During each
restaurant's normal hours.
- All food collected will be used to directly help people within your community.
- In exchange for a donation of non-perishable food, participants will receive a buy one get one six-inch sandwich.
- Our goal is to drive as much community involvement as possible and collect 5,000 lbs of food.
Below is part of a press release from SUBWAY
it includes the surrounding counties that are participating
in this one day event.

“We are honored to be able to support our local communities,” said SUBWAY® restaurants of Savannah board chair, John Remegi. “Being able to give back to the area in this manner, and help those in need, enables us to feed many more people than we would on any given day.”Participating counties include Appling, Bacon, Beaufort, Bryan, Bulloch, Chandler, Chatham, Clay, Effingham, Evans, Hampton, Jasper, Jeff Davis, Knox, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, Montgomery, Screven, Tattnall, Toombs, Treutlen and Wayne. Feed A Friend originated in Jackson, MI, and is now in its 13th year.
“We are so appreciative of Subway's commitment to our community and ending hunger,” Mary Jane Crouch, Executive Director of Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia. “Their enthusiasm and support will help provide food to families and children that struggle with food insecurity.”

Bring out the family, bring out the donations.
