Sunny Window Shelf In Laundry Room
I was lamenting that I wasn't always
able to complete projects
like I did in my younger days.
I therefore didn't have much to share
with you younger bloggers.
Debbie suggested that I share some of the projects
I have done in the past.
I wanted shelving
in front of this laundry room window.
It gets the morning light and is so nice for plants.

He was a pioneer of the DIY home decorating shows.
On one episode he did this neat little shelf.
Little to no construction.

| The canisters made by my daughter Hollie hold various things used in the laundry. This one has scrubbies and brushes another holds vinyl gloves, another buttons and coins. The Most difficult part was measuring for the shelves. I placed the rope over the rod, marked the first shelf, used large safety pins to mark where the top shelf would go. Using the top of the washer and dryer for work space. I tied the first shelf in place, looped it over the rod again and repeated the process. I then trimmed the rope at the bottom. |

Hey! I bet you could use pallet wood for shelves!
I came to the building site one day and it was up. Not intended but cheaper than taking it down.

He was a gift to Bob from one of the grandsons.
This is the room I have chosen for it's display.
The grandsons are grown but they never fail to activate
Billy's song on their way thru to the garage.
Never let it be said that I don't appreciate fine art!

GREAT shelf! It is a great idea for in front of a window. I love(d) Christopher Lowell. He was WAY ahead of his time and I loved his style. Wonder what he is doing now? It seems like a lot of the good design shows on HGTV are gone and replaced with some not-so-interesting ones...or maybe it is just me~

I love the hanging shelves Ginger! They are wonderful. And I adore Christopher Lowell! I just picked up my 3rd C.L. decorating book at a flea market last month. I so miss his show! My personal opinion is he still had the best decorating ideas and how-to's than any of the shows since. I learned so much from him.

Hi Ginger, your laundry room is very very nice, I like the color blue. Reminds me of my bedroom in my former home. The daisy canister is familiar too, I made a set for my mother in ceramics years ago. xo

What a great idea, Ginger. And the perfect place too! I love the color of your laundry room. This may a project that isn't new to you, but it is to us! I hope you'll share more. Oh man - I used to love me some Christopher Lowell. Back in the day - I made sure to record his show on my high tech vcr on my high tech vhs video tape. Another one around about the same time was Lynette Jennings. Loved her too.
A perfect solution for the window over my sink. It used to look outside till the patio was enclosed. Now it looks into my craft/laundry/computer room! I was just telling hubby that I thought a shelf would look good there!
And, I remember Christopher Lowell - I loved watching him! Cool!

Ginger, please keep your "old" projects coming. I love this and bet you have inspiration after inspiration to share. I do remember watching Christopher Lloyd. He was goofy, but his ideas were really good.
This is a keeper. I also love how you store things in pretty containers. This is the second post in less than 24 hours that has me wanting to start scouring about for containers instead of leaving things in boxes.

Oh gosh, rembmber when everyone had a Billy Bass...So funny! This is a great idea for plants! I thought my, that is a fancy laundry room with corn molding! My washer and dryer are in the garage, guess you won't ever be seeing my laundry room LOL!

I totally forgot about Christopher Lowell, but I miss all those HGTV and other famous decorators from back in the 90's. The executives at HGTV have lost their minds with the garage on their network now. I got sick of the network years ago and do not really watch anymore unless Sarah Richardson is on. Too bad the network doesn't recognize talent.
Thank you for poining out Billy Bass. My grandfather used to have one of those and played it all the time. Actually, if it made noise, it was probably in his house. Clocks were his biggest thing and he'd set them all 5 minutes apart to hear the noise.
One made bird chirps, another was trains, and a coo-coo clock. I'm sure there was at least another one, but these things went on for at least 15 minutes. Drove everyone else nuts (especially my grandmother who lived with it every hour, every day), but these things all made him happy.
I totally forgot Billy until I saw him on your wall. How fun that your grandsons have something from their younger years that still brings them such pleasure at your house.
But wait, I guess I should have been talking about the shelves, huh? I ramble way too much! Those seem like a very creative way to take advantage of "wasted" space in a room that is mainly for function. The color in the flowers make your room come to life. I love the blue wall color. I had a similar color in my tv room for years. It's very calming and pretty.

Hi Ginger, those shelves are great! Love the look of the rope, and yes, I'd bed a more rustic rope and pallet wood would look great as well. I remember Christopher Lowell. I still think about a project he shared years ago that I really liked. And Billy Bass...he's just too good to be true :)

Ginger, your hanging shelf is a great way to enjoy plants without taking up always-needed laundry room counter space. I'm sure you've enjoyed it immensely through the years. (Yes, I do remember Christopher Lowell -- and Lynette Jennings, too!)

I think I can handle this project. But guess what? Our previous owners had wallpaper border up!!! I've looked at the beach scene border in there for about 8 years.
