SAINT PATRICK'S DAY
IN SAVANNAH, GA
I am not sure who let her in. I can see I will have to call security. |
It is our Mardi Gras. The parade lasts hour upon hour.
The city fountains are flowing green, we're eating green grits and leprechauns are trolling the streets.
The hotels are booked a year in advance. It is best to have a relative or good friend to visit.
My two awesome daughters are visiting me for
the special week.
I will be back later with lots of pictures and a narrative of the BIG day.
Since you are here don't forget to sign up for my giveaway. HERE !!
I didn't get a chance to do a new tablescape this week but I would like to share a few pics of last year's tables.
I wasn't blogging then. These pics are just candids |
I hosted my garden club's monthly meeting a couple of days before St Patrick's Day. Our club's name is
"The Heritage Garden Club".
Don't you think that's an appropriate name for the oldest city in Georgia?
Early arrivals |
A great time was had by all, as is usual and customary.
We range in age from 30 to 95.
If you remember the Women's Bridge Club
in "Midnight in the Garden of Good Evil"
You have seen our garden club.
My dining room is not large so we had two tables. This is the kitchen table. |
Enameled charger, white dinner plate - HomeGoods, Salad plate - HomeGoods and TJ, Flatware - everyday, Green Boopie - my collection. |
Dessert dishes, Green Boopie - My collection |
One dear member is a 95 years old and "hot to trot". She has her own meeting in the midst of the rest of us. She speaks of triumphs and conquests of years gone by. Don't make eye contact or you will get flashed.
There is the sweet member who always gets lost driving to the meeting. She refuses to accept a ride, meet in a central location or follow. One particular member always goes out to find her and brings her along, in time for dessert.
Everyone started arriving before I got close ups of the dining room table. |
We have our beloved "Seasonal Sally" (not her real name). She is our belle of the ball, always dressed to celebrate the holiday of the month. This lovely lady will knock your socks off.
I am not identifying anyone! |
Then you have me and my cohorts. We watch it all, while giggling like school girls. We're ever thankful that we haven't gotten to that point, just yet. Of course we secretly wish we had the guts to emulate "Seasonal Sally". Our pic was not publish worthy. LOL!
I sincerely hope you enjoyed joining our garden club meeting. You are welcome back anytime. Just bring along your sense of humor. You will need it!

As mentioned afore, I will have my lovely daughters down for the week leading up to the festivities. I will be reporting back about THEIR antics.
I am linking up to everyone I can think of so be sure to hop over to party with these gracious hostesses.

Your dining room is so beautiful! Looks like you had a fabulous time! I love the exterior of your house, too. Wish I could find a house like that here in Charlotte. Are those forest green Boopie glasses I see on the table??? I LOVE those. My husband just gave me a whole slew of the clear ones for my birthday yesterday, but I would LOVE to have some green ones too.
What a fun time you all had. Love the tablescape and hearing how all the lovely ladies enjoyed your home. Beautiful post.

Wow, for not blogging back then, you did a great job chronicling your St. Patrick's luncheon! I really enjoyed seeing your pretty table -- it gave me some ideas for one I might set this year. I have similar green glasses, but covet the little sherbets. Your garden club friends look like a great group!

Ms. Ginger, You are a hoot and a half! Looks like you ladies had a blast.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Ginger, your group looks like such a fun bunch of ladies and your table was just beautiful.
I had planned to be in Savannah last year for the parade but ended up in NOLA instead. Some year I am going to make it for the St. Patrick's Day parade.
What a fun treat to visit. My senior mom and I love gardening AND St. Patricks Day is always fun from the hats my grandchildren made to the cute boa's y'all were wearing. Thank you for a another sweet hint of spring and have a great time.
Savannah is one of my very favourite cities,
In 2006 we watched the St Patricks Day parade standing outside Charlotte's Corner on W Liberty and loved every minute of it, even the green beer!

Lol! Ginger! I so had to laugh at the comparison of your garden club and the movie's bridge club. I have recently watched that movie. I can never watch it again and not think of you! Only in the south! I can say that I was raised there. So fun. Your tables are beautiful and I think you are having a great time. This next week should be hopping. Wish I could be there! Lots of pictures please! Love it! Thanks for sharing and linking up!
Sherry
What a lovely and fun group you have there. And your table was perfect.

Dearest Ginger,
Quite some 'green' and happy action! Love your hand crocheted table cloth; did you do that?
Have a great Sunday!

Dearest Ginger,
Thanks for your visit and comment but you did not live up to your promise yet... You wrote: 'I'm your newest follower.' Love to have you on board!
Lots of love,
Mariette
You ladies are rocking your greens! All so lovely. Looks like you gals have a lot of fun. I love that you all vary in ages, nice mix for sure!
Well, this was fun! Maybe I told you that I lived in Savannah for a short time a long time ago (late '69 and early '70), in the garden flat of the General Bartow House on Jones Street. When my husband and I went down to visit last year, we never could find the house. Do you know if something has happened to it? It was near Pulaski Square.
Ginger, I am laughing out loud. I want to come to your Garden Club meeting! It sounds like a great sit-com on t.v.! Your tables look beautiful. Love those green Boopie glasses. Love all of the green attire. Thanks for sharing all of this fun for Favorite Things. laurie
Looks like so much fun! You ladies certainly know how to celebrate. Thanks so much for being a part of Seasonal Sundays.

After seeing this I know you will be at my party! Such pretty tables!
I heard about your St Pat's Day parade. And so much warmer than ours here in NY.
A neighbor's bro was Bishop there, I wish I could remember her maiden name!
Thanks for posting my party button!
The light kissing your tablescape is perfect. Dear friends to mark the seasons are such an incredible blessing. Thank you for sharing your lovely design and gathering. Cherry Kay
What a wonderful group! Looks like you guys had sooo much fun! I've never been to Savannah for St. Patrick's Day. Should be pretty wild. Don't get arrested! ;)
Stumbled across your blog. Love how festive you are and what a fun idea!
How fun! Love that first photo, together with the music it was just perfect. :) Your 'scape is wonderful. Love those leprechaun plates, and the shot from the head of the table is so wonderful with the greens and whites. Great post! Thanks for adding it to the St. Patrick's Day party.
