Laurie, thank you so much for stealing one of my photos and linking to my blog.
I know most of you in BLOGLAND love vintage things!
I DO TOO!!
My Sweet Old Bob and I are very vintage!!
My Sweet Old Bob and I are very vintage!!
Sweet Old Bob and I have had fifty-two
Valentine's Days
as husband and wife.
We married very young. I was eighteen and he was twenty.
We didn't have a lot of money. Let me tell you it is hard to pay the bills on LOVE. You CAN make do with a lot less on
LOVE!
For our first Valentine's Day as a married couple,
Bob asked what I would like to do.
I told him that I would cook a nice dinner and that
I REALLY wanted a flip top kitchen trash can.
You guessed it I got exactly what I asked for and I couldn't have been happier. However, it was not in the league with this one.
Over the years there have been many Valentine gifts.
Jewelry, flowers, candy, you name it. There is nothing material that this lady needs or wishes.
I still find myself thinking back on the first Valentine's Day of our marriage. I still get a chuckle and a warm feeling just thinking about that day. We were young,
had no idea what we were doing but it was good.
This was my gift this year.
These beautiful roses along with the one from whom they were given are my Favorite Things this week.
And just in case you think we didn't stay grounded.
He got them FREE!
Those who are familiar with Bob and me know
the significance of free flowers.
You can read about his free flowers
I pray that each of you reading this are blessed
with fifty plus years of Valentine's Bliss!

Oh Ginger, what a wonderful story. I was 19 when I got married, and I still say that God was looking out for me, because I sure didn't have enough sense to pick the right man, but God picked him for me! And you are so right. Love is wonderful, but you can't buy much with it. Your roses are beautiful, and so is your love for each other. Thank you for linking this to Favorite Things. laurie
I had to go back and read about Bob's free flowers. What a deal. He is a sweetie. Hubby and I will be having our 29th this year. I was 18 and he turned 19 the day we married. 52 is certainly something to celebrate!

Very sweet post. I love hearing good stories like this! I am now following you. Your blog is lovely!:)
Congratulations on your 52nd anniversary. Your post was so sweet. The Man & I will celebrate 42 in June. We were married just out of college, he was 22 & I was 20. The Man had a job, even before he actually graduated, working for the Navy Defense Dept. This was a very good thing since the year was '69 & we were in the middle of the Vietnam War. This made The Man exempt as long as he kept the job & Feds renewed his contract each year. The job was good, but the pay wasn't & we had to skimp. Our grocery budget was $17 per week!
I'm a bit late to the party so please forgive me. I just read your post about the drapes. Awesome! You did a fantastic job, dear friend. You and everyone else should be very proud of you.
