And It's Not Under The Bed!!
(although there's plenty under there)
I saw what a beautiful job Bab's over at "Upstairs, Downstairs"
did at tweaking her secretary. I decided I needed to do that as well.
This was the first blog picture of my desk. Not much has changed.
~~~~~~~~~
I rarely change out a lot these days. Not sure if it is due to lack or energy
or just that I am happy with the arrangement of things. Let's see what I changed.
The changes are subtle so I will point out some of them. Of course the flowers are different. Straggler Hydrangeas in Baccarat and Fostoria mini vases.
The picture of my wedding maid of honor and me are the same. My Dad's bible was in the first picture. I gave it to my son and now my bible is here with same spectacles and gold dipped rose.
The spectacles belonged to Bob's grandfather and Bob gave me the rose as a Valentine's Day gift.
The tassel is new. My first purchase from an Etsy shop, a couple of years ago. The Tassel House
The candlesticks are different but still black metal shades. I placed a couple of my
demitasse cups in cubbies, just cause they are pretty. The arrow is pointing to a Waterford desk/pen set. A gift, when I was made V.P. at the bank from which I retired.
This little dove and his partner are new to the display. They are probably worthless to anyone but me. I purchased them over fifty years ago at a home decorator party. Some of you may remember those.
So I hope you like the subtle changes. I am not sure! Babs opens the doors on her secretary to present the displays on the shelves.
Lordy, Lordy what has granny been hiding in there! OOPS! I guess the cat is outta the bag now!
What is she hiding in there? I see lots of bunnies. I think she only had one bunny. You know how bunnies multiply, just look what happened in there.
Well, there's the other candlesticks. What? Another set of dishes! BOB! BOB!
I see a few angels up on the top shelf. Well, she's gonna need some angles angels to help her get out of this mess.
I am sorry Babs, mine doesn't look as lovely as yours. You can bet I will be working on this over the next week.
I am open to suggestions, bring 'em on! I will be asking for additional suggestions before this is finished.
Thanks for visiting, you are always welcome at Granny's house.
Love the items you chose for the desk top! Those little rabbits will do that, multiply like crazy. I think angels and dishes do too! They do at my house. Have fun rearranging!!
I think it looks beautiful. Wish I could see a larger picture of you on your wedding day! ;-) xo
HI Ginger! Your secretary is gorgeous! Wish I had one! I love how you've styled her and how nice to have a place to poke extras! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Dearest Ginger,
What a tall secretary you got! What ought to be stored in there? Everything related to writing or what? That is too much shelving one would think...
LOVE your Waterford desk/pen set, gift to you for becoming VP at the bank you worked for till retirement!
The gold leave tooling on the green sheep's leather is something my former husband did for his company. They made mostly mahogany furniture in antique look for shipment to England.
Hugs to you,
Mariette
I adore that desk Ginger! So pretty. That entire room is gorgeous!
Ginger- It looks just beautiful. I really like your changes. Sometimes subtle changes are the best. I have slowed down in changing things around the last few months, too. Time for a few changes soon- I think-
Your home is just as beautiful as ever, Ginger! xo Diana
Hi Ginger , just lovely , you are building so many wonderful memories and your desk is gorgeous . Thanks for sharing :).
It looks beautiful, Ginger! In all the years my parents owned their secretary, my mom has never opened it & created a vignette. I'll have to show her your pretty creation.
Oh, to have a secretary to style! I think you've done a beautiful job. You and Babs each have a gorgeous secretary. A secretary is on my wish list. ;-)
Your secretary is absolutely gorgeous and unique. So beautiful!
Your secretary is gorgeous!! and you styled it beautifully!
I think that you have not changed much because it is so perfect! I don't change much either...Let just say because it is perfect! What a great memory lane display!
The secretary is magnificent...and your treasures you display on it are beautiful...and more than beautiful are the sentiments!!!
This is the prettiest secretary I have ever seen. Your treasures look like they are right at home decorating all of the nooks and crannies. I adore the little dove. I understand your sentimental attachment. I used to go with my mother to World Gift Parties back in the sixties. I treasure the little things of hers that she bought at those parties through the years. The real value is in the memories.
We girls can never have too many places to put our pretties. It looks wonderful, Ginger.
My mother had a pair of those doves. I have often wished I had them. In fact, I always have my eye out for a pair.
It is a gorgeous piece! I love the beautiful and meaningful pieces you displayed there. (I love your hidden secret, looks like mine! LOL)
Hugs,
Patti
Ginger, OMGosh! Your secretary is gorgeous! Love the mirrored doors and the candle stick holders. I love that you have so many treasures and pretty pieces, and I had to giggle at the bunnies and angels hiding inside. The blue tassel is so pretty.
Thanks so much for mentioning my secretary, and I'm sorry I'm so late visiting and seeing yours.
What a lovely collection you have, I have recently moved to a much smaller home and deciding what to keep is very hard.
