Granny Waltzes To Blue Danube

It's about time I delivered!
On the promise to do a tablescape
to match my birthday flowers.

Well they almost expired before I could get my act together.
I had to do a little tweaking here and there, managing to keep a semblance of the original bouquet together.
Blue Danube's Blue Onion
~~~~~~~~~~
 OK, you noticed! I was playing around with my watermark.
Now it's everywhere! As if anyone wanted my pics.
I always like to start with the stacking process.
Click on pictures to enlarge for detail.
 Dollar Tree white round woven place mats with a cobalt blue charger from Horchow, on sale of course.
 Extra large white dinner plate. Sonoma Valley by Signature Housewares.
 The slightly smaller Blue Danube dinner plate. I could have used a white charger in the same pattern as the white dinner plate but I really like the cobalt charger.
 Next goes the rimmed soup bowl.
 Now we pretend we are ready for dessert. We could really eat dessert first. Hey, it's our party!
I love these little dessert/ice cream dishes. They are vintage milk glass. I believe it is the Wild Rose pattern by Indiana Glass.
 I used the same Wild Rose bowls for votive holders. It is too light to get a good picture of the candlelight.
Here is a close up view of the napkin holder. It is Lucite with a little vase on the side for holding fresh or faux flowers. I first saw these on Tricia's blog The Dull And The Dutiful (Tricia, is anything but). I fell in love with them, then and searched til I found them. Thanks for sharing the beauty Tricia.
 These milk glass goblets are Grape and Vine by Anchor Hocking.
 The blue goblets are from the renowned purveyor of all things "cheap but good", Dollar Tree!
 This is a butter tub but could be used  for salsa, dips or you could serve your cheese ball in this dish. I make my own cheese balls and I would form it into this dish.
 This is called a mayonnaise jar but could have many uses. I would use it here for salad dressing.
I am using the ladle from my set of Stratford by International Silver, a pattern from 1902.
 This piece is called a Lobster Dish, I like to serve rolls in this dish.
 I think lobster would make a beautiful presentation.
Gotta have salt and pepper. I like that they hold a lot. So often matching S&Ps hold little if any condiment.
I used my every day flatware. Can't remember the name.
Fresh Hydrangea, I had to snip and snip to get enough.
The Hydrangea succumbed first.
Did you notice that I switched napkins on you.
The white eyelet that I started with looked washed out.
Which do you like best?
I love this pattern and have quite a few additional
pieces not used here. There are
lovely special use pieces, pitchers and snack sets.
I will share those at another time.
I hope you enjoyed Blue Danube, Blue Onion. Please leave a comment so I will know you stopped by.
I party here, join me!
Ginger, I can see you waltzing to the Blue Danube as you set your table. :) Such a pretty pattern and I like both napkins, but I agree the blue napkin is more colorful. I haven't been to the DT in a long time. I always find something "I can't live without" when I go there. Your little milk glass dessert dishes are adorable. They're shape reminds me of English pudding basins. Happy Birthday..again. Hugs.
Ginger, I'd love to waltz right up and join you at this gorgeous table. Your choice of dishes is perfect. Can't miss with blue and white, especially with a pattern as pretty as Blue Onion. The milk glass is a nice compliment too, and I like the blue napkin with this because it is more of a contrast with the hydrangea. ~ Sarah
Hi Babs, I was a dancing in three quarter time! Big time! I haven't been to DT in a long time either. I can never get out for a dollar or two. Those little dishes are kinda prissy aren't they? I have a couple that hold taper candles. They have a small cup in the bottom.
Sure hope you get this. You know you are the guinea pig. LOL!
Thanks Barbara, Blue, white and yellow are my favorite colors. Any shade, hue or tint of blue. xo Ginger
Thanks Carol, I will have to do a table with that antique silver soon. It does set a pretty table. I know that you love pink as well. Loved the that little "wine" cabinet you redid. xo Ginger
Thanks Sarah. Me too, I think I like the blue better. You should have seen me snipping that half dead hydrangea head. It went into the trash as soon as I was finished snipping and clipping.
Now you just waltz on down her and have a glass of iced tea!
Dearest Ginger,
Ending with the blue napkin being the best choice for this beautiful table setting! You always do such a great job on every table setting. This being your recent Birthday's setting makes it even more stand out!
Happy new week to you both.
Uh, YES you want to watermark these pretty pictures!!!!!! You know folks steal, steal, steal and call your work their own, and these are so pretty I'm sure they'd fall prey if you didn't watermark them!!!!
I'm do glad you were able to get your tablescape in under the wire! Your birthday flowers are so pretty, and they look just that much more pretty as an inspiration for this beautifully set table! I love the Blue Danube and cannot understand how I missed out on having any in my stash. I missed the boat on that one!
I love the hydrangea on the napkin! (And yes...I did notice the napkin switch up, you sly lady!!)
Have a beautiful week and continue to enjoy those flowers for as long as they last! Better yet...press one or two to keep! :-)
Good Morning Ginger, What a treat I had today, to discover your blog and to find you were setting a table with my most favourite china in the world!
I adore your blue and white designed china. About 30 years ago I had a little mug which I loved and which I bought in Germany. It lasted for about 15 years before it was broken. I could not find one anywhere, then about 5 years ago I visited my daughter, who then, lived in Atlanta. We visited TKMax and there sitting on a shelf were 6 of the little beauties. I snapped them up and packed them in my hand luggage to take home to Cyprus, as I did not want them to break.
I have enjoyed visiting your blog and I have become a new follower. I would like to invite you to visit me at Ivy, Phyllis and Me! when you have the time. The door will always be open.
Sending you best wishes from England, Daphne
And it is amazing how Dollar Tree can come through. I have some of their glasses in my post today.
The Blue Danube pattern is the china I have. I absolutely love it and just don't display, or use, it enough. I always wanted a "yellow" dining room to display it in. However, it turned out to be "light gold", which in my eyes, isn't as pretty as the blue/yellow combo. However, having seen your display, I believe that I am going to have to get busy and work it out!
