MY BLUE CHRISTMAS!

With a little Silver and White
for good measure

Bob and I will be going north again this year for the holidays.
When we visit the girls for Christmas and New Year I don't decorate...maybe just a little.
In order to join the fun I am posting some pictures from Christmas 2010. I hope you will enjoy them, as some have not previously been posted.

This is where it starts

This is a walk-in closet in one of the guest rooms. The other guest closet is also filled with Christmas and other seasonal decor.
 There is a door in the back of each closet leading to the attic. Items not temperature sensitive are stored in the attic.

Welcome to My Blue Christmas 2010

One of  my favorite areas to decorate greets you as you stop through the foyer.  The banisters look a little different each year.
The garlands are lighted. Unfortunately I had just started blogging and the evening shots did not come out well.
The candles are always lit for guests.
 The candles have been on the newel post, each season, for many years. It is easy to achieve this look safely. I will try to do a tutorial on this.
The Pendent Light is a vintage,  limited edition, Waterford light that Bob gave me many years ago.
It followed us here twenty-six years ago when we built this house.
Quite a few years ago, my daughter gifted me the mirrors up the staircase, all at one time. Did I do a happy dance, well you know I did.  The mirrors on the lower portion were ones I collected over time.

 The ornaments you see hanging from the chandelier are the Waterford series of "The Twelve Days Of Christmas".

The mantel in the den changes every year but the silver glittered deer have made several appearances here. They have also shown up on the dining table and the dining room sideboard as well.
I saw the deer featured in a magazine years ago and purchased them from Z Gallerie .

 You have seen the tall glass cylinders all over the house.
 The mirror is La Barge and came from a second-hand store. It was gold, my youngest daughter and I applied the silver leaf.

Let's sit a spell, for I am sure you are blurry eyed by now.  Rest a bit and then come back  for PART II!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before you go let's take a minute to remember.
~THE REASON FOR THE SEASON~
Just For Today,
Have a positive impact on just one person.
After all, THIS baby changed the world!
Thanks for visiting. Won't you leave a comment...you're already
here!
Then hop over and party here:
Ginger - It's all just beautiful. I love silver and blue mixed together at Christmas. And I would love a tutorial on how in the world you get that candle to stay put on your newel post! BTW - that's some kind of stash you have going there, young lady! Praying for good health and safe travels for you and Bob. xo
Dearest Ginger,
Wow, you live in Georgia 4 years longer than we do... How time goes by so fast.
You and your youngest daughter did a great job on applying the silver leaf to that mirror; just gorgeous and blending in perfectly. You have a great taste and Mr. Bob too for gifting you special items. And how special for receiving those mirrors from your daughter. Your stair case is a SHOW CASE!
Hugs to you,
Mariette
I really admire your banister. The garland is so lush and pretty. I will be using a battery lighted garland on our stairs for the first time this year. I hope it works!
Ginger, Your decorations are/were gorgeous. LOVE the wonderful welcoming look of the gorgeous stair railing with the candles on the newel post. It must be Christmas magic that keeps it all in place. :) God bless and safe travels heading North.
You have a beautiful home, Miss Ginger! Now that makes me even more sad that I never got a chance to visit you when in Savannah. I would have loved to tour your gorgeous house! I am a nut when it comes to that sort of thing. It really helps me to "feel" the people who live there. Your stairwell and foyer kind of remind me of the house in "Father of the Bride". Your guest room closets are so neatly organized!!! I utilize my guest room closets for storage, too. Heck...I utilize every square inch of the house!!! :-)
