Miracle Shrub!

New and exotic shrub discovered
on Georgia barrier island!
Never before seen by man nor beast.

It looks like hydrangea but look closer.

Sweet Ole Bob came back from taking out the trash. He says to me. "Did you see that?" "What", I asked. "There are hydrangeas growing from the Formosa azalea out by the service yard." "Really?", I say.

Sure enough, beautiful blue hydrangea blossoms and they are really growing out of the azalea bush.

This floral paint can be used on fresh and dried flowers.
This came from Michael's.

I haven't figured out a way to dry them to retain their beautiful blue color. And everyone knows that I LOVE blue.

I will store them here for now. I will decide what to do with them later. Just now, I am trying to wipe that silly grin from my face. Sweet Ole Bob is just shaking his head in wonder.

One pic accidentally got part of my breakfast room shelf. I will post about this shelf later. I gotta go back outside. It is a beautiful day. I have spray painting to do and new shrubs to discover.

Just so you know, I didn't intend to play a joke on Bob. I had just stuck the hydrangeas in the azalea for the paint to dry. He was too funny.

See you guys, stay young at heart!

I am joining up with this crowd of fantastic ladies:

Hi, Ginger. What a funny story!! Thanks for sharing, and thanks for visiting my blog and commenting, and following me--that's a real honor! I've spray-painted hydrangeas before, and if I recall, they will keep just fine. Leave them right where you have them and enjoy them--for a looong time. Good to meet you!

Ha! Ginger, you had me looking with my eyes bugging out! After reading your post on that plant that flowers every "hundred years", I thought this was a serious post :)
I love hydrangeas, they remind me of my hometown. I've not seen them in the area I'm in now so I'm not sure if we can grow them, but now I'm inspired to investigate.

Aren't you a clever one? Your flower transformation is lovely! I've never used a spray like that on dried flowers before. I'll have to give it a try.

Thanks for linking to Time Travel Thursday last week. Hope to see you this week, as well.

Blessings,

You are too funny. I have had good luck drying them by putting in a vase of water and leaving trhem in a dim room until the water is gone.Take off all the leaves first. Also for a quick way I cut them and place in the trunk of my car-no water- and make sure the car is in the baking sun. They should be dry by evening. The secret is picking them at their peak.
