Friendly Front Porch

A repost for Blog Party-Savvy Southern Style
Please be patient and scroll past the open spaces to the comments section. I tried to edit all **** broke loose.
Ginger

Come sit a while!
We have family to welcome you!
Meet Bobby, my daughter's 11 month old pug. He was visiting last week.

Bobby had made friends with "Elvis". "Elvis" is a little under the weather after a hard winter.

You can see the pollen on the black table

This time of year everything looks dull, weary and tired. Just like Elvis.
It is time to brighten things up a little. The first week of May, each year, the pressure washer man shows and does his magic on all the outside porches. On alternating years he cleans the house.
I really thought we needed to add a pop of color. So off I went to the fabric store.

I fell in love with this Robert Allen outdoor fabric. This was my starting point and I needed to work with the existing rugs.  I covered the cushion on the swing with this fabric and bought new outdoor pillows.

Next I chose new cushions for the rockers. The rockers are a little "chippy" so I won't be painting them.

The pillows on the swing are from Walmart. On the rocker the cushions are from Walmart, the pillows from Pier One.
Now to do a little spray painting. I will be painting the old milk can, a vintage table and a wicker table. Time to choose a color that pops!
I was sure you would guess the color!

See that little yellow/green pedestal thingie? I bought it for $1.00 at a thrift shop.

It was ugly then and it is still ugly but I have an idea for it. It will show up again soon.

I think the porch turned out nice. There are still a few more things I want to do but I wanted to share.

The boot was on sale at Stein Mart, the squirrel was a gift,
the candle holder was thrifted and the candle from HomeGoods.

I flipped up the thrift store crochet piece so you could see my little friend and the table.

Lest I forget "Elvis" got a thorough grooming, however, he is still "Dog" tired.
I hope you enjoyed your visit to my front porch.
I am linking to the following gracious hostesses.

Please be patient and scroll a long way to the post section. I tried to do some editing and developed this huge white space. Chalk it up to computer/blogger illiteracy. Thanks for your patience. I would love to hear from you. Ginger:)
I still don't understand these large spaces!

Hi Ginger,

I just love, love, love your porch! It's so inviting, and the colors are wonderful. Your daughter's pug is adorable. Every time a see a pug, I think about the movie "Otis and Milo". It's the sweetest children's movie, and our son watched it over and over when he was young.

Hugs to you,

Denise at Forest Manor

Ginger, your choice of fabric is perfect to spiff things up and the new green paint added to the mix just sets the porch in motion for a wonderful summer. Even Elvis looks like he's happy to be guarding the porch. And that little pug is just too sweet.

Elvis looks much happier now.
There is a sparkle in his eye. I think once you brightened the surroundings he perked up. Maybe the pug visit helped too.
