| I received three of these Amaryllis bulbs from my sweet MIL about 38 years ago. I think that makes them vintage |

| Would you say they multiply like rabbits. For about 30 years I have been sharing these beautiful bulbs with neighbors and friends. You ride down our street in Spring and you see their relatives everywhere. |

| The fence has only been up for two years. These Nikko Hydrangeas are 24 years old. They are all that remain of 30 hydrangeas we planted, in the wooded area, behind the fence. We had visions of a beautiful botanical garden. The deer had other ideas. We live in an area where the deer come onto your porch to eat your potted impatients. These were saved by being transfered behind the large azaleas. |

| A gift from my youngest daughter several years ago. I was able to force it that Christmas and planted it outside in the spring. |

| These followed me home from "Cheekwood Botanical Gardens" in Nashville, Tn. They keep company with the real sippers that are always buzzing around. |

| The flowers are vintage, sort of. The crochet piece is vintage. It was made by my dear Momma. The pattern is called milk glass. I can see it, can't you? You can see more of her work HERE |
We had a blessed holiday and I hope you did as well.
I hope to get the cast off this Thursday. They first wanted to set up the appointment on Friday. OH NO, I say, I will be at the Royal Wedding on Friday.

Hi Ginger, the amaryllis are commonly known as hippeastrums down here. Your garden is stunning. I just read out to my husband that you have deer that come up onto your porch! How amazing! We don't have deer here, although, when it's really, really dry here, on a rare occasion we've seen kangaroos down the road!

Ginger, your amaryllis are gorgeous. I've never planted them outside, but would love having them in the garden. Are you zone 8 in Savannah? Isn't is lovely having "pass along" plants and remembering those who gave them to us?

I have one amaryllis that my mil gave me and it loves the soil in western NC. It blooms beautifully but has never multiplied. It's only been in the ground 3 years though. Your photos are beautiful.

And I am laughing so hard about you getting your cast off on Thursday instead of Friday! Yes, girl. I do understand as nothing is going to stand in the way of me and my television set that day. LOL! If only you lived closer, we could watch together!!!

My amaryllis bulbs are also blooming. My daughter gives me a few bulbs every Christmas.
I have them spread out in my garden. After looking at your photos I think I need to move them closer together.

Those are some gorgeous flowers Ginger! I have never seen any that color. I have some red one out front and I was wondering if they need to be divided? I'm not sure how to tell. Sorry about your hydrangeas. I lost some last year and a few are coming back. They are small though from so much winter damage. Take care!

Wow, you created a botanical Amaryllis show with the most gorgeous photos. We've seen that many Amaryllis in Indonesia when we lived on the Island of Java. They kept them for Christmas to decorate the Church. So I'm used to masses of them but you got quite a show. Great that they do naturalize so well, even trying to get past the gate... That vase is incredible and I did see your Mama Vivian's crocheted gloves for you! She was talented.

Hi Ginger, thanks for your lovely comment on my blog. The 'roos only eat grasses. They can be quite nasty, you can't usually get near the wild ones, they bounce off, but the ones in petting zoos and the like can get cranky if you stop feeding them, they lean back on their tails and kick with their huge feet. We had a laugh about the dog and goat you told us about. So funny as we have a gorgeous golden retriever ourselves. How frustrating it must be to have deer when they do SO much damage!

Okay, so why aren't my amaryllis that pretty? About five years ago, my FIL gave me about 50 bulbs that had been in an Aunt's garden. I planted them in full sun. Every year, I get a few green leaves, but no blooms. What is the secret? Yours are so beautiful!

I hear you about the deer. Why don't they eat weeds or even grass! We use Deer Out, smells like mint, and it works. Every 2 months you have to spray, but it has saved my hydrangeas!

What?!?!??!!! You can actually grow amaryllis and calla lilies there??? Outdoors??? OK, this move is looking a little better to me now. Wow! I love both of those flowers, but we can't grow them here in Missouri because our winters are so harsh. Oh, my goodness! This is such great news! It's amazing how the few bulbs your MIL gave you have flourished into such a fabulous abundance!!! Cool!!!!!!!!!
