UP UP AND AWAY!!

Today I am joining Susan

for a Great Metamorphosis Monday
Be sure to join and/or visit

Thanks to my precious son, I had a
fabulous day yesterday!
Thanks to him we are going to be transformed from mere mortals to birds in flight. I hope you enjoy the ride.

My son is a (small craft airplane) pilot, owner, builder and restorer. He called me Friday and asked if I would like to go flying with him on Saturday.  My answer, of course, was YES!!

The following is an aerial tour of the area around Savannah.

This will be our plane for the day. This is not my son's plane. He builds and flies mostly experimental aircraft. He also has a "Mooney" whatever that is.

My handsome pilot

We will be taking this trainer. The experimental plane is harder to fly, the Mooney is to large for what we want to do. He says with this "baby" he will have more time for showing me the sights.

REMOVE TIE DOWNS

A GOOD PILOT DOES A PREFLIGHT CHECK
And of course my son is a good pilot, besides his passenger is MOM

OF COURSE THERE'S THE LOG BOOK

OK! NOW WE ARE READY FOR TAKEOFF!
We are taking off from Statesboro Airport in Statesboro, Ga.

We are flying over the piney woods and fields of south Georgia
We'll be headed for the Georgia Coast and Savannah

You can see different rivers snaking their way to the ocean

It's very overcast but you can just make out the horizon.

Here the rivers reach the marsh. Water, water everywhere.
It's high tide and the marshes are full
Notice the bridge crossing the Johnny Mercer River

Four village churches
I live on this island so I won't identify it

Now we are headed to the Savannah River

This is Fort Pulaski on Cockspur Island in the Savannah River.
It is still overcast so the colors are subdued
We are following the river to the Atlantic Ocean.

Tybee Island, Ga
Atlantic Ocean above, Savannah River below

Tybee Island lighthouse

Tybee Pier
This is where the Miley Cyrus movie
"The Last Song" was filmed
Word on the island, "She was a nice  young lady"

Well that was a short "birdseye view" of my home
We are heading back to the airport

Wasn't that a smooth landing?  It really was but he said it was rough.
He's a perfectionist like his Mom

Well. today we morphed from an earthbound mortal
to a bird in flight!!

You may have noticed that my approach to Metamorphosis Monday is a little different.
At my tender "past middle" age I spend a lot of time observing the world about me.  Enjoying the changes of season,  people, situations, just anything.  Everything around us is constantly changing and so often we miss the miracle.  Sometimes I will have a bona fide project.
For now join and/or visit
