IS THERE A DIFFERENCE??
NO, THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE
THESE TWO BOWLS ARE AS EXACT AS ANY
TWO HANDBLOWN, HANDCUT CRYSTAL ITEMS
CAN BE.
WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT IS
WATERFORD'S KENNEDY BOWL(S)
THIS IS A REPLICA OF THE WATERFORD BOWL PRESENTED TO
PRESIDENT J. F. KENNEDY
TO COMMEMORATE HIS VISIT TO IRELAND
One day my daughter and I were browsing in a used furniture store. She suddenly saw a gleam in my eye. The kind of gleam I get when I see something of great beauty at a great value. Her story is that I hunkered down like a football running back. I swooped in upon said value. Grabbed it under one arm, tucked close to the body like a superbowl gameball.
Having seen the price on said football, I rushed to the counter paid for the gameball and said "Kim, come on let's go". Now, you would have to understand that this was not the first time she had seen me quickly purchase an item. I'd have her drive while I held the item up to the light looking for that elusive "seahorse" etching. Then squealing, "I knew it, I knew it". This time it was different, this was the superbowl!
I knew it immediately!
NOW FOR THE REVEAL!!
One bowl was purchased by my sweet husband. as a gift for me, while in
Dublin, Ireland in l984.
Price: Hundreds of US dollars.
One touchdown was made by me in a
used furniture store several years ago.
Price: $60.00
I can no longer tell the difference. Can You?
DID I SCORE OR WHAT?

Wow! You definitely scored, Granny! They are both so exquisite. Thanks you so much for your prayers for my mom. She is tired but is doing very well considering what happened to her. I hope you have a nice weekend!...Christine
Those are beautiful and what a lucky find. I love your daughter's analogy of your shopping for bargains. Cracked me up this Saturday morning.
You definately scored. Great story of finding it too!
Your bowls are stunning. What a fabulous find. Hugs, Marty
What my mom forgot to tell was the number of tackles she made to get to the goal line [cash register]. I did not even have to provide blocking for her. The touchdown dance in the parking lot outside after the transaction was complete was a little embarrassing, but her the smile on her face when she saw the WATERFORD mark was priceless!
Good for you! They are beautiful bowls and look great as a set! Gotta say I love the football story too:@)
OH I know this feeling when you find a REAL score! Your bowls are truly exquisite! I've hopped over from Garage Salen Party and am glad I did...I am a new follower! I lived in Savannah for four years as a girl...I hope to visit again someday...I enjoyed your aerial tour!

What a find!!! And how lucky to have two of them -- I would treasure them both -- one because of the gift and the other because of the find!

Ginger ~ TYSM for your sweet comments & much appreciated compliment. I so love Savannah & Charleston ... the history & beauty so draws us to the heart & soul of both cities.
Your added history is so appreciated. I had such a wonderful time walking up & down these streets peeking & pic'ing.
I hope you will come back to enjoy the rest of our trip thru these beautiful states.
I LOVE your Waterford pieces & YES you sure did SCORE!!! I had such great fun at the Waterford factory ... such breathtaking beauty being created right in front of our eyes.
TTFN ~ Hugs, Marydon
I'm so glad you got this post linked up to Favorite Things. What beautiful bowls and what an incredible find! I loved your description of finding this deal, and I could just picture you hunkered over with the bowl firmly in your hands dashing to the cash register for the touch down! When your daughter described it, you should have told her that next time you would expect her to run interference for you in case someone tried to grab the treasure before you reached the goal line. Great post. laurie
Oh I see Kimberly's remark now! You didn't need anyone to run interference for you. Love it! Wish we could see a video of the touchdown dance!! laurie
SCORE!!!!!!!!!
Treasure your find - it is a real beaut.
Ginger -- this was a total score!! The bowls are so beautiful, and the stories behind them make them all the more special. I am also always glad to find another Lismore collector (the only other one I know is my husband's grandmother, and she says her set is finished). Now and then I stumble across great deals on ebay or other places but don't have the money, so I'll let you know about them if that happens and maybe you'll want to add to yours!
Congratulations on your 52nd anniversary this past June -- how wonderful!!!
So glad to be following your blog
Have a great night
Jenny
