MARIAN'S GARDEN!!

Saturday, my friend, Marian and I volunteered to work the annual Fall Plant Sale at our local botanical center.
I will post about that later this week.
I hope you notice the beautiful BLUE sky!

Today, I want to share my friend's secret garden.

Our community is inundated with deer. Any plant within their range is fodder for them.  If you hope to have any flowering plant material you have to protect it from the deer.
Marian has a very small fenced area of her side yard that has flourished this year.
 Let's visit!
Her volunteer Beautyberry is awesome this year. The birds will find the berries soon and the plant will be stripped within two days.

Here, we can just see the rooting of Night Blooming Cereus, that I gave her earlier in the season. Hers will out grow mine easily.
 Marian has two green thumbs.
Beautiful Penta!
Marian's little fence. It takes only a small barrier to keep out the deer, especially when they don't have open space to jump.

Marian is easily the most beautiful thing in the garden.

Her friendship is special and we have so much fun together

Now we are off to sell some plants!

See you later!!

Tea For Margaret ~ Redux

Margaret is a Survivor!
This weekend, after a visit with my sweet friend Margaret, I decided to repost this tea setting again.

You see, since Margaret's knee replacement last year, she was in a serious auto accident. She was hit by a police cruiser participating in a car chase. I won't bother you about what I think about police chases. You can guess, I'm sure.

She had to have another knee replacement. The first replacement was destroyed in the auto accident.  That was in April. Just about the time she recovered  she fell and broke her foot. At last, she is up and about without assistance. We will be playing Bunco, at my house, this Monday. Margaret will be here!

I am so thankful she is feeling well. Love you Margaret!

Tea for Margaret

I am preparing, in advance, a "Tea for Two" for my sweet friend Margaret.
Margaret is a dear neighbor who had knee replacement surgery two weeks ago.
I might set up for her tea a little early. Yes, that is what I will do.  She won't be able come for tea right now but I will be ready for her.

You can get a sneak peek before she gets here.

This will be Margaret's first view.
I think she will love the vintage tablecloth. It is a favorite of mine.
The crochet napkins are a recent purchase (you can see them better in a different shot).

I had to scour the yard for a few late blooms. I placed them in this little gold sugar bowl. It is an odd piece but I think it works well for this little table. What do you think?

Perhaps we will have currant scones, lemon biscuits, clotted cream, jam and a little fruit. I will place the treats on this milk glass cake plate.  Does the cover make this a cloche?  Does that mean I can use it later for a Cloche Party?

I think she will love these vintage dessert plates. They have a beautiful gold border with flowers in the center.  I think the bouquet looks a little like my garden find. You will notice we have a gold theme.  That's because her friendship is GOLDEN!

Margaret likes green tea.  We will have green tea but perhaps she will like a cup of Earl Gray with pomegranate. Earlier this year, while touring Charleston Tea Plantation, we were told that the only difference in teas is the length of time the leaves are allowed to oxidize before drying. Green tea has no oxidization time.

The tea service is part of my Sunday BEST china.
I am using it because Margaret is the BEST!

We will be using beautiful sterling flatware with a 24 karat gold basket weave.
I think it goes will with the gold theme.

Now, I'll just wait for Margaret's arrival

Just in case you are wondering, Margaret is a real person. She will be coming for tea.
In the near future I hope!

NEW MAN IN THE HOUSE!

THE MAC IS DEAD, LONG LIVE THE MAC!

My Son has always been an Apple devotee and I have been able to use his hand-me-down computers. A pretty good deal for me since over the last 15+ years I only had to purchase one unit. My luck finally ran out last week.
My old Mac finally wore out and Son was not upgrading anytime soon.

Welcome MacBook Pro
Isn't he nice? Very slim and trim, not like his Momma.

This is his favorite site. How about you?

Do you see the extras in this picture?
In addition to sharing my new baby I wanted to share a couple of gifts that I recently received from two very special bloggers. Bloggers have the most wonderful giveaways. Don't you agree? I have thanked both these generous bloggers by email and through their blogs however I want to give a shout out to you!

Mariette of Mariette's Back to Basics awarded this beautiful "French Country Style Lavender Sachet" and I was the winner.

The sachet is so beautifully made and the aroma is wonderfully relaxing.  The attention to detail is amazing. Please click on the link above to experience Mariette's lovely blog. If you love flowers you're gonna love her blog. Thank you Mariette.

I recently won a giveaway at Dee's A Lapin Life. Dee's gift was these fantastic "Black Chalkboard Pots"
Aren't these the cutest things you have seen?
My Daughter was visiting when these arrived. She joined in the fun as we opened these beautiful pots. They arrived complete with chalk and the most wonderful smelling vanilla candle.  The jute makes these little pots a perfect fit in my kitchen. Look for them to appear in a tablescape soon. Use the link above to visit Dee to see what other treasures she is creating. Thank you Dee!

We are blessed with many wonderful and caring bloggers who have become friends. Talent is abundant in this community. You are inspiring.
Thank you for visiting.
I am joining the following gracious hostesses:

I have been MIA for a short time, while visiting with family houseguests and shopping for Mac. I have been working on several projects and I will be publishing several this week. Keep an eye peeled for me.

Please leave a comment so I will know that you visited.
