Vintage Lace and Roses

Most of my blogger friends love anything
Vintage!

A few weeks back I was the lucky winner of a giveaway at
The awesome gift was six, five piece place settings of Mikasa's Vintage Lace.
Thank you Courtney and Mikasa!

Here is my interpretation of "Vintage Lace" and Roses.

"Vintage Lace" is paired with Wallace's Waltz Of Spring,  featuring a single sculptured rose on each handle. I chose this pattern when I was in high school. Do any of you remember the practice that tied in with major department stores?
A lovely  Alençon Lace Style French Lace tablecloth.
A garden style bouquet with roses.

Let's see how many vintage items I can mix and match with my beautiful gift!
Welcome to my cozy dining room. It is not super large but I can easily seat eight and I have served dessert and coffee to twelve Bunco Gals. We didn't mind rubbing elbows.
Mikasa's Vintage Lace is a beautiful pattern and here I have mixed it with a 1902 pattern, "Stratford" by International Silver.
The only things on the table that are NOT vintage are the mercury glass candlesticks and the vase holding the roses. The stemware is (circa 1950) Orlean by Arcadia Export Import, handmade in Hungary.
Midway through the shoot I changed my mind about the table setup. I started photographing with plans for dessert to be served in the Waterford stems and changed my mind. I chose to set up for serving Shrimp Cocktail from that piece. Some photographs show a dessert spoon at the top of the setting and others show the "Stratford" cocktail fork.  A change of mind is a lady's prerogative!

The silver-plate bread tray on the left of the table is Lancaster Rose by Poole Silver Co. The silver-plate gravy boat/on stand (on the right) was made in Hong Kong but the maker is unknown.
The ladle below is another piece of International's Stratford.
The lovely tablecloth is vintage French Lace made in the Alençon lace STYLE. The genuine Alençon Lace was honored and protected by UNESCO and satisfies the criteria for inscription on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The genuine lace costs approximately  $1,000 per inch and can be afforded, only by Kings and the uber-rich.
Another view of this beautiful Vintage Lace pattern. I have used my vintage Waterford Lismore champagne/sherbet for shrimp cocktail. We are on the coast and local shrimp are abundant.
At the other end of the table, the vintage covered dish below is also Lancaster Rose silver-plate.

In keeping with the vintage theme, each place setting has an open salt and a sterling salt spoon.
I won't list them here but I am sure you may recognize some of the silver patterns.

Did you ever have one candle that just won't stay lit. I trimmed the wick and tried everything I knew.
Any one with ideas about how to light the stubborn candle? I know, buy battery operated ones!
Hey, I am thinking about it very seriously!
For those who may be interested, I designed and sewed the draperies in the dining room.
They are made from Duralee silk, lined and interlined. The goblet pleats are hand stitched.

Thank you so much for visiting with me today and I hope you will chat with me by leaving a comment.

Please remember my daughter, Kim, in your prayers. She is having kidney surgery, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee, this Friday. This is her remaining kidney and we are praying for a successful outcome.

Dearst Ginger,
First off, my thoughts and prayers are going out to Kim; may it go all very well for her!
You are such a talented centipede... Those Duralee silk drapes are incredible and I had to enlarge the photos for admiring your goblet pleats! Hats off to you lady; you are one spunky Granny!
Love the vintage Alençon lace table cloth and you so well set the table, using your six winning sets of Mikasa Vintage Lace.
Have you ever visited Fabby from Fabby's Living? http://fabbysliving.blogspot.com/
Amongst the two of you, if you pull out all the silver, china and crystal from the cabinets and drawers, you could be writing blog posts for years to come!
Lovely job and I admire you for this.
Hugs,
Mariette

What a fabulous giveaway!!! And your table is just stunning, Ginger. Love it.

I wanted to let you know that we are going to be up in your stomping ground after Christmas. We are coming up with our godchildren and their family for a few days. Not sure when or how long. I know that is BUSY BUSY time, but if there is any way we could meet for breakfast somewhere or lunch, I would love that. Not even sure where we are staying. The girls are doing all of that. But will keep you posted.

Ginger, I will be praying for you and Kim. I love your dining room tablescape and the draperies are fabulous, too. Also, really enjoyed seeing that you used a striped pattern on your chair seats. I did a similar pattern in different colors on my dining room chairs.

First, Ginger, the important things: rest assured that my prayers for Kim continue. For the fun part, I am so happy to see your table; I fell in love with it (as you know) when I saw the giveaway, and I'm so happy it went to your house if it couldn't come to mine. :) What you did with it is lovely...it's a perfect pattern for the crystal you chose and the silver pieces. That gravy boat and stand is something else...I think I NEED one of those! It's beautiful! And the Stratford pattern is beautiful as well. Are you getting the idea that I love it all? I hope so.

A while back I'd admired your drapes, but I found myself admiring them again, even before I read your info about them. Wow. What a beautiful job you did!

Just think of all the prayers Kim is garnering! It's awesome! ~Zuni
