The Weekend IS Here!!

WHEW!! I AM TIRED!
I have been awol this week cause I have been playing Cinderella!
I've been scrubbing, cleaning and polishing. During my six weeks of leisure very little cleaning got done around here. Mind you, the health department didn't get a call, but.....
Bob is a wonderful cook, he kept us fed and kept the laundry going but housekeeper, NOT!

I was playing Cinderella because my Prince Charming will be here on Tuesday. My youngest Grandson, Jon, is coming to visit. He just finished his first year of college at Belmont University, in Nashville, Tn. This will be his first time visiting without Mom and Dad in years.
Although everything is not quite ready for His Majesty  I am taking a break this weekend.
Let's visit the Savannah Rose Festival held the first of this month. I will step back and just let you look and enjoy.

Hmmm, good crowd.

Children's Garden

Rose Martinis and good conversation

In addition to the Roses the festival featured a Home Flower and Horticultural Show.
Yoo Hoo!!
This vintage flower is a winner
Grandma Hazel would be proud!
This baby's companion blossom won Blue Ribbon

You can read about the origins of this plant HERE!

The roses peaked over a week earlier and we had a torrential rain the night before opening.  Despite those minor setbacks the festival was a smashing success and the planning and work has begun for next year.

I hope you enjoyed the tour and found it relaxing.
Now! Carpe diem!
I am joining these awesome hostesses. Please link back to their parties for more
fun and inspiritation.

I'm sorry to hear your dear mama died sooo young! wow, that is sad, I can imagin you still miss her. Mom's are great, although, I was closer to my dad when he was alive, I was the apple of his eyes! I guess mother prefered Joe, my brother, or I suspect it was the other way around! Joe liked her and I liked him! hahahaaaa...than when dad died my mom and me automatically became so close, this is already 15 years ago he died and I still miss him and wish he was here, he was so much fun, my dad.
Thanks for coming by and for such lovely comment.

Hi Ginger, gorgeous flower pics, as always. Where will you display your ribbon? My hubby's the same when I'm out of action, he can just manage to keep the house running, but boy do I have loads of work waiting for me when I recover. Hope you have a grand time with the boy.

Oh My...I would be in 7th Heaven to be able to wander those gardens & see (and SMELL) all those beautiful flowers!

Thank you so much for taking us along.
Enjoy your grandson's visit. I know too well how rarely we get to see them once they grow up. :-(

Hugs,
Rett

Kudos on your vintage amaryllis winning a blue ribbon, too! BRAVO!!

A first place ribbon and a visit from your grandson...you must be in heaven my dear. Your pictures make me homesick for Savannah. I'll just sit here and pout for awhile in the cold rain.

Hi Ginger,

These roses are gorgeous! I only have one rose bush in our yard, but it is wonderful. A David Austin Rose in a heavenly shade of pink and a wonderful old rose fragrance. I shared pictures of it in my Mother's Day tablescape a few weeks ago. Congrats on your blue ribbon; that is such an accomplishment! I so enjoyed the tour and thank you for sharing.

Beautiful pictures. I attended the Savannah Jazz Festival in March and fell in love with the oh-la-la squares, grand homes and gardens. Congrats on your blue ribbon and time with grandson. Lucky him. ~CJ

Thank you for visiting and I enjoyed hearing from you. I love the smell of roses but just cannot master them well myself. I inherited several when we bought this house but donated them to a neighbor after years of struggling to keep them up. I now only have the knockout rose my husband bought me and one other unidentified large climbing rose that keeps coming back. Oh, I also have a Lady Banks that needs to be moved to another location because it will not bloom. LOL! I loved seeing men and women enjoying the show in your photos. I have an UIL who grows the most beautiful roses! I think your rose tour/show will be a continued success!

Dearest Ginger,

You are quite a busy bee at your age! Congratulations on your First Premium ribbon.
Those roses looked very strong and healthy. Of course Savannah is somewhat milder than where we are, you always have the softening effect of the Ocean.
So now you can get back to normal again... Well, anyway; WHAT is normal? Maybe this keeps us on our toes. Better busy than turning into a couch potato!

Lots of love,

Mariette

Having no skills in gardening, I am more than impressed with your blue ribbon!! And I would think that receiving it in Savannah would make it "gold"!! I loved reading how your MIL gave your the bulbs 38 years ago. WOW! You not only hava a green thumb, you must be totally green like Kermit the Frog....LOL! Have fun with your grandson when he comes to visit.....I have four grandsons so I understand the love that bonds. Thanks for your dear comments on my post and please, visit often!!!
