Living Room Tour

Today I am sharing some pictures of my living room. These pictures were taken before I knew to turn "off" the flash.
Come on in and make yourself at home!
The desk sits against  the left wall as you enter the living room from the foyer.
The old spectacles on the bible belonged to Bob's Grandfather.
These photos were taken at a previous Easter. Most of my photos from this year turned out blurred.
Things are always changing in this room.
I move things around often,
it can morph several times a day..
View from foyer. The rug is too small but I haven't found the perfect one just yet.
I will know it when I see it. The solid wood floors are Rosewood.
Another view from the desk area.

The view to the right of foyer door. Sofa was purchased from a fire sale. Really! A local furniture had a small fire and they were selling this high end sofa for a song. It was reupholstered in this beautiful silk candlewick.

This gives you a better view of the sofa although the photo is not good. The art over the sofa is a vintage filet crochet piece. I found it in a thrift shop. It was in the same frame but with ugly burgundy background and mat.
I love it because it mimics the design in the sofa. It broke my heart that someone worked so hard to create this beautiful piece and it ended up in a thrift shop. I like to think I rescued said piece.

Close ups of the fabric

The lamps by the sofa and on the desk are Waterford.
The large lamps were anniversary gifts, the small one was an ebay purchase.
The desk came from a local antique dealer and chair from a thrift shop. I upholstered the chair seat.

 Views from the family room
View into the family room and curio cabinets

The watercolor print is by Tina Fripp of Hilton Head. The house is the Rose Hill Plantation House, located on Hilton Head. A partial view of one of two curio cabinets.
Another view of Rose Hill

Another of Tina Fripp's works. This one is the Grand Ole Oglethorpe Hotel in Brunswick Georgia.
It was built in 1866 and unfortunately is now gone.
This is where the Boehm "Spirit of Bethlehem" is kept eleven months a year.

I hope you have enjoyed your tour. Please come back anytime. You are always welcome. I will be back later in the week with news from the Rose Festival !
I am joining the following gracious hostesses. Please link back to them for fun parties.

Please leave a comment so that I know you visited.

Ginger, thank you for sharing these beautiful pictures. What a stunning living room you have. I absolutely adore that piece you rescued above the sofa, the statues in your curio cabinet, your chairs and flooring - what a stunning room. I'd love to have some real foliage plants inside also, but as we're in the sub tropics, they seem to die in the air conditioning!

Lovely living room -- I love your decor. If you look at early Lines from Linderhof posts, you'll find the same thing about flashes -- pictures are so much better without! But we all have a learning curve. The pictures are good anyway and again it is a lovely room!

Dearest Ginger,

Congratulations first on winning my French Country Style Lavender Sachet!!!
Wow, your post is so interesting. Bob's Grandfather's spectacles on top of the lovely 'secretaire' as we call it in French. That tooled leather inlay was an art my first, late, husband managed. He made 'antiques' that were sold to England by the company.
I always admired that work.
Your solid Rosewood floor is incredible! We once saw in Mèxico City at the home of our boss' friends a huge Rose tree. So that makes sence for understanding how they collect actual Rosewood! So exotic.
Your silk candlewick upholstered sofa is a steal. Hind sight one should have kept a few yards of that silk fabric aside for some pillows too... But you manged rather well without. I have to compliment you for having rescued that beautiful hand crocheted filet lace. Very well done by a great crafswoman with lots of hours aside from some high quality thread.
Love the happy ocre color on the walls as it goes very well with the rest. What a SHAME that the Oglethorpe Hotel in Brunswick is no more... At least you got the art work!
The porcelain Boehm is beautiful too and so is the gesture for displaying that year-round.
Okay, I'm done writing my mini-blog... you are a classy lady!

Lots of love,

Mariette

From one granny to another your home is beautiful. I have the hardwood floors now as opposed to the carpet when we bought our house. You are the handy one. Upholstery is quite a challenge. Never tried it but used to see my mom and gm do it all the time. I came over from VTT. Will visit again.

Ginger, I think I just lost my post! In a nutshell, it's GORGEOUS, and I love it.

Thanks so much for the prayers. I'm pacing myself as much as I can, and I can't blog long. I hate that part. Hope your foot is feeling better and that your daughter's tree gets cleaned up without much hassle. We still have fence down, but my neighbor is in charge of that part.

XO,

Sheila :-)
