SWEET OLD BOB HITS PARIS!!

SWEET OLD BOB!!
BIG HIT IN PARIS!!
AND
WE MADE IT BACK IN ONE PIECE!!
SOME OF YOU MAY ALREADY KNOW
BOB AND I MADE A TRANSATLANTIC CROSSING
THIS FALL AND IT BEGAN WITH A FALL
A FALL FOR BOB, THAT IS!
Our trip was to begin with four days in Paris then a cruise ending up in Miami.
We arrived in Paris the day a major strike, through out France, was called. We didn't see a single strike or protester. So far so good. It was a beautiful autumn afternoon when we checked in to our hotel. The friendly staff assured us we would be notified when our missing luggage showed. Small nuisance. We can handle this.
We decided to take the two block stroll to the Eiffel Tour (Tower).
What a lovely afternoon for the short walk.
SURELY, SURELY  LOVE IS IN THE AIR.
Beautiful Paris sky!
Arm in arm we set out.
This is the view from our hotel

We strolled and enjoyed the brisk air.

A sweet Canadian couple took our photo and we reciprocated.
Being hungry, we tried our first Parisian meal. Ugh!!
A Parisian hot dog? In a  baguette? What are you thinking?
He didn't know that would be his last meal for three days!
On the short walk back we checked several menu boards and chose a restaurant for dinner.  The plan was to freshen up and go back out for dinner.
WRONG!!
One block from our hotel, my Sweet Old Bob slipped on a curb.  He took a hard fall and hit his head. A gentleman helped him up and we made our way back to our hotel. Once in our room, we decided not to go back out. We were tired from the all night flight and Bob was shaken from the fall.
The next morning Bob awoke with a severe headache. Since he already had a  shunt in his head, we immediately summoned help and went to a hospital.
There were Cat Scans, MRI's and several physicians attempting to communicate with us. The health system was very different from ours but the people were fantastic and went beyond what was expected of them to help us and to communicate.
This was Bob's next meal, three days after the first.
We finally got the word that there seemed to be no damage but they wished to keep him for several more days, for observation.
Three days, two hospitals, one ambulance and numerous taxi rides later Bob checked himself out around noon the day before we were to leave at 5:00am.
This sweet man wanted to make sure I got to see something before we ended our first trip to Paris.
We taxi to Eiffel Tour, Louvre and Notre Dame for a whirlwind mini tour.
Granny tours the Tour
Sweet Old Bob waited patiently
Granny tours the Louvre
My sweetheart waited patiently
Granny tours Notre Dame
My Sweetheart waited patiently
You are so sweet, I love you!
For the next thirteen days it's rest and relaxation.
Ahhh!

I will share more of this tale a little later.
Today's post is a tribute to that sweet man with whom I fell in love, when I was fifteen years old.
He is truly Sweet Old Bob and the one love of my life. I am glad to say he has been seen by his own physician, retested and has been pronounced A OKAY!!  I hope you have enjoyed getting to know my sweetie. I should have waited til Valentine's Day to post this but I just couldn't.

Oh I am so glad your sweetie is ok after that fall. That must have been scary, to have an accident in another country. I love Paris! I want to go back and stay longer. It is just so beautiful there, everywhere you look is gorgeous. When we were touring, I could not decide where to look cause everywhere is just gorgeous. Happy New Year to you both and I hope there are no more accidents.!...Christine

I cannot begin to tell you how I felt reading this post. I just can't.
First of all..those photographs ...were the most fantastic of Paris I have ever seen..and I have seen many. I felt like I was right there.
How I would love to have an entire set of them. I will never make it to Paris..and I know this.
When I read that your Bob had taken a fall like that..I actually felt panic for a moment.. :) and I don't even know either of you. Relief when you got help...distraught that he couldn't share the rest of the trip with you and love for him and his patiently waiting for you. All of it..even to the joy at seeing that ship that would bring you both safely home.
I have no real good reason for being teary over this post, but I am.
Yes. Yes there is a very good reason. I met my Pat at 15 years old. You still have your Bob .... Take good care of him..but then I know you will. And he of you.
I've gone on with my life since our 43 years ended..but this story..all of it, really touched my heart.
Much love,
Mona
Happy New Year to both of you!

Hi Ginger...

My friend, I just wanted to come by to say thank you for your recent visit and the sweet note that you left for me! Ohhh...and I'm sooo glad that I did! I loved reading about your travels! I am sooo very sorry about your dear husbands fall and hospital stay though...so happy to hear that he is okay! Well, can you just imagine...traveling half way across the world...to Paris, France...and then spending the days in the hospital! Poor Bob! I'm so glad that you were able to see some of Paris' sites before you had to leave...even though it was an "whirlwind" of a time! Paris really is fabulous, isn't it? Five years ago, my honey took me to Europe for our honeymoon. We flew into Zurich...rented a car and traveled throughout Bavaria, Germany, France, Italy, and Switzerland! I will never forget it!!! Our first day in Paris was spent at the Eiffel..and like you...we found a little vendor for our evening meal...sat on the grass of the park with the Eiffel in view! We were eating when the Eiffel lit up that evening...it was so romantic! Ohhh...and I loved the Lourve! Wasn't the architecture fabulous?

Well my friend, you truly have a dear husband and I hope that he was able to get some rest while on your cruise! I'm looking forward to hearing about that leg of your journey!

Wishing you and your dear husband...blessing for a wonderful and Happy New Year!

Chari @Happy To Design

PS...you really did get some great photos! Thank you so much for sharing them with us!!!

Oh my goodness! You couldn't make that up if you tried! What an awful thing to happen on your trip and yet you 2 were able to redeem it and make the most of it. A testament to a healthy happy marriage! :-) I love all of your photos of Paris but I think I like the ones of Bob the best. Just such a reminder of what love and sacrifice is that he would encourage you to take advantage of the little time you had left there.
This was such a sweet post and I so appreciate you sharing it at Inspiration Friday!
Happy New Year,

So glad he is o.k. and how sweet of him to make sure you got to see Paris. That is true love for sure. They would have kept him much longer so it is good he checked himself out. My son stayed for a week in a hospital in Italy last year for them to run tests. He was having severe diarrhea which I think was from something he ate. They told him a month after he got home that it was collitis, but has never had another bout since then. If it hadn't been for his father in law who is a dental surgeon and pushing for them to get the tests done over there he would have been in much longer. My son finally told them he was not missing his flight back home. This last trip he stayed well, thank goodness. Have a Happy New Year!

Ginger, just wanted to let you know I have your name in the hopper! :-)

Loved seeing your photos again. I would love to go to France. That's high on my agenda of places to see. I've been to Europe, just not France. My father adored Paris, and I have a cousin there. See, I have no excuse! LOL!

Hoping that all is well with you and that things are settling down. I'm still battling this respiratory infection. Sigh. It's better, though! :-)

First, I am so glad that Bob is fine, but what a way to see Paris, I am so sorry about that, but they do say always leave not having done everything so that you want to come back!!

Sounds like you got to see a lot though and all of your pictures were wonderful. I have only been to Paris once and I would love to go back. They say Paris is for lovers and how wonderful that you have been in love since 15!!! That is incredible.

You mentioned staying here in Cabo until I had to go back. If you check back I just posted and told how our flight got cancelled (Boo hoo - NOT!) and we HAD to stay 2 extra days until they got us a new flight. Guess you have a little bit of the fortuneteller in you! Have a great day.
