LAZY DAISY

Taylor-Smith-Taylor
Lazy Daisy pattern just speaks
Spring and Summer!

This coffee service has been set up on the sideboard for more than a month.
I am an extremely busy woman
or
I am a totally discombobulated old broad!
(No vote necessary)
This pretty set of dishes was manufactured in the 1950s.
The bright white daisies and the soft green color
are a perfect look for this time of year.
The interior of each piece is mocha colored and the lids on the coffee pot and creamer are made of wood with  brass knobs. The design of the knobs is a giveaway to the mid-century origin.
If you take cream in your coffee be careful. You won't be able to see the coffee in your cup.
This adorable Tea Coffee Towel reminds us that the bees are a buzzin'. The silver colored bee is a pot sitter from Cracker Barrel.
The silver is International sterling, Stratford pattern,
introduced in 1902 and discontinued, some sources say 30s, some say 50s.

We move to the left side of the sideboard.
Here you will see a pair of ceramic vintage style boots. They are truly vintage because I made them in 1967.
They were a gift to my mother and unfortunately, in time, came back to me. They were matte black with gold eyelets when I gave them to Mom.
I used a pedestal cake plate for lift, added flowers and a snail, pot sitter. The jar of flowers is from the tray of bottles I won from Verbena Cottage.
The Hydrangeas are from my garden. The two colors are from the same bush. I needed small blossoms but they were very hard to find. I think these are really still in the bud stage.
The Daisies are faux as mine are doing poorly.
Sorry, I HAD to have Daisies!
I love the detail in the shoes. At times I forget they are ceramic. The visible creases mimic normal wear.
Also at this end, the footed server and Gerber Daisy dessert plates await the blueberry scones.
The scones arrived shortly after the shoot. They tasted good but were not photo worthy. That's a story for another day, let's just say "lost keys". We won't discuss how many I ate. Bob insisted on storing his extra (American) biscuit with the scones.
International Brotherhood!
I removed the bottle of flowers so you could see more detail in the shoes.
I have always wished I had some shoes like these.
I should have called this post "Ginger Loves Shoes".

I hope you have enjoyed your visit today. If you did please comment, I love to read the sound of your voice.

  1. Love your things on the sideboard. I like the coffee service and those shoes are amazing! But what is a pot sitter? I love both your bee and snail. But I'm not sure what they're used for?

  3. I love that lazy daisy pattern. It looks similar to one that I have been eyeballing and desiring at our local antique mall for about a full year now. I don't want the whole set (can't afford it) but would just love to have some pieces. It includes a coffee service which I wish they would just sell me. UGH.

    Everything is just beautiful, Ginger.

  4. The accessories on the sideboard are so charming and personal and definitely says "Ginger lives here and she's a warm friendly gal, sit down, but we won't serve you scones because we already ate them" {hehe, I'm a kidder, sorry}. I love the large lettuce platter that I don't think was mentioned. And the pot sitters placed like jewels in the vignette are so much fun. And I so love that you created the shoe sculpture for mom then recreated it by changing the color for your use; a very nice memory. Speaking of memories, I think my grandmother had the daisy tea set when I was quite young; I remember her bringing it out for an afternoon treat in the summer.

  6. I love that old set with the daisies. It is so fresh and summery looking but the scene stealer is the shoes! I did ceramics back in the day, too, but I don't remember seeing shoes. They do look real.

Hope you have a great Wednesday- xo Diana

  8. You're so on the money about the knobs on the tea set. That made me grin. Your boots are priceless. I have an old pair of our Nana's soft white leather high top lace boots tucked away some place. Wonder what I've done with them...you're sending me on a hunt. My eye kept going to the marvelous texture in your underplate...Bordallo Pinheiro? Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay

  10. Hi Ginger!

I really enjoyed this post. I read it slowly and noticed every detail as I had my morning coffee. What a nice way to start my morning.

So many things were wonderful about your vignette so I will just mention that the silver is a sweet pattern, love the detailing of the flowers.

I also must say that I love bees and your little pot hangers from Cracker Barrel are darling. How many time have I mentioned that I miss that store since move out of the South?

Thank you four sharing all these lovelies at my party this week!

  12. Dearest Ginger,

You always show us something interesting with a great background story. Those shoes look like they were real leather ones and than got preserved with a ceramic layer. Compliments.
The huge cabbage tray holds that coffee pot with creamer and sugar holder perfect. You at least do know the difference in shape between a teapot and a coffeepot!
Lovely bee and also the towel with bee and daisies is great, as is the silverware. Forget about the looks of the scones. Important is that they did taste well.
    You can't have it all.
    Love to you both,
    Mariette
