MISSING IN ACTION!

I missed being with all of you this past week.
It has not been a good week around the island.

I have been dealing with medication allergies, and the
death of a sweet friend.

Ava was a typical southern lady. She was kind, sweet, a little sassy, to go along with her red hair, and a faithful friend. I miss her, however she hasn't been Ava for a while. She suffered from Parkinson's Disease for quite a long time. Ava is at peace with our Saviour now. Please pray for that same peace for her family.

My Daughter and I are leaving this morning for an eleven day trip. Papa will be holding down the home front.
I am usually very excited to be traveling but for some reason I am having a hard time working myself up for this one. I am sure when I see my daughter's face everything will be great.

I will be back home on the twenty-fourth. I hope to have some great pics of Quebec City, St. Lawrence Seaway,  Nova Scotia and our eastern seaboard.
I will miss you guys, behave until I get back out there.
Pray for us also.
Hugs, Ginger

Time For A Respite!

After working on that bedroom
for two years!
I am plumb tuckered out!!(Gabby Hayes...1930's and 40's)

I am going to take a mini vacation.
A virtual vacation, mind you.
Come with me while I revisit some places that were most relaxing and pleasurable, when I visited last.
Nice view of my neighbor. I am sure she will enjoy me publishing her house!
Every journey begins with the first step so we will head out the driveway. I'm leaving before someone, namely  "Sweet Ole Bob" tells me to blow the pinestraw off the drive.
I'll leave this island paradise, looking for new attractions.

We'll just hop around the world a bit.
I am skipping the part about the hospital!
Birthplace of Giacomo Antonio Domenico Michele Secondo Maria Puccini.
Melodious enough to have been an aria.
Isn't he handsome. Sam loves his Granny.
I told you he loves his Granny!
I told those kids not to photograph
the Sweet Ole Bob and me!
Bob and I show up in all the world's
famous playgrounds and casinos!

I am going to see if anyone can guess
the next few locales.

A hint on the two above. They gave "all" in this place so that we may celebrate this weekend and all other weekends.
There is no way to guess the pic above. I just fell in love with this place and this gentleman.

I am a little rested now. We'll head home by way of:
Upper center, Carnegie Hall. Pays the tuition.
Did I tell you, Jon loves his Granny?

We're going home, soon! We'll be broke.
Our nation's breadbasket. Well the cattle's anyhoo!
The cornfield also produced the next nuclear engineer.
Oh, Tim loves his Granny VERY much!

After getting a fine dose of our wonderful world and lots of family loving up, I am heading home. I'll see what kind of trouble I can stir up in Savannah. Gotta get some of that Chatham Artillery Punch and in two years I'll have another room done. Woo Hoo!!

Before I get started again, I am going to rest a wee bit.
I'll bet you thought this was me! Actually, this is Buddy. He does his resting in southern Illinois.

Hope you enjoyed the trip. Please leave a comment, they are like gifts. Be sure to guess where we went!

SEMI-ANNUAL SWAP MEET!!

We just visited the "GIRLS"
My two awesome Daughters.

It was sweltering in Savannah.
It was time to "get outta town".

When the "GIRLS" and I visit one another, there is always an exchange of goodies. Often it is dinnerware, curtains, furniture. This time a slot machine and a piece of Belleek went to one, French lace curtains and a vintage lace tablecloth to another.

Oh, I always get my share! Remember the turquoise chaise Here! This time I brought back a new/vintage set of dishes. Look for those in a tablescape.
I also brought back a couple of pieces of furniture.

In the midst of all of this mayhem we attended "Aunt Annabel"s 100th Birthday Party" on the Fourth of July. She has always been a real firecracker. Read about that Here!

I was able to post from the road several times. Here and

Just letting you know we are back!! I will be posting more about our trip and the thrifty finds this coming week. I will be posting about my meeting with an actual
"Blogger Friend". Virtual became reality.

Time To Cool Down!

It is sweltering in Savannah this time of year!
Everyone is looking for a way to keep cool!
I thought this might be a good time to review our
50th anniversary tour of Alaska.
Grab a glass of iced tea and
come along, you might find it refreshing.
Mendenhall Glacier
This was my third visit, in 25 years, to Mendenhall Glacier, Tongass National Forest, near Juneau, AK. I can attest to the fact that the glacier is receding. I don't know why. It might be natural cyclical environmental patterns or manmade global warming (I will let others debate that) but it is indeed receding. I wish my earlier pictures were digital. We have held our pictures side by side and we can surely tell the difference.

My oldest daughter Kim and me.

Sweet Old Bob was experiencing health problems during this time so our daughter went with us. Shortly after the trip Bob had brain surgery. His health has improved greatly and
he gets along very well now. For that we are very thankful.

Glacier Bay

Margerie Glacier is 1 mile wide and 800 feet high from sea level to the top

Preparing to leave on a flight over Juneau Ice Fields, from Skagway.
Put your iced tea on the traytable,
buckle up and enjoy the ride .

These are not super highways in the mountains, they are glaciers.

We are coming back down into Skagway.
You can see the terminus of a glacier at the upper left. The gray water is called "rock water" due to the amount of ground rock suspended in the water.
Don't you feel refreshed now? I knew you would! I hope you enjoyed the tour. Refill your iced tea, put your fingers on the keyboard and leave a comment to let me know you took the tour. Thanks for visiting.
