Christmas Thru A Child's Eyes

My eleven month granddaughter spies the Christmas Tree!

Makes you realize we all should view Christmas and the world in general, through the eyes of a child.

AJ, with her Mom and Dad spent Christmas Eve night with us and much of the day Christmas. What a blessing that was for us.

Guess Who Came To Visit?

Bob and I had a special guest this weekend!

This is Miss  A. J., Baby Durl, Adorable, Sweetness, 

Princess and the list goes on.

 My friend Louise says I should add "Little Ham".

She is the daughter of my son and his sweet wife and she is my only granddaughter.

Some of you may remember,  I have five awesome grandsons, the youngest of which is twenty-one.

Well, seven and a half months ago God brought this blessing into our lives.

A Table For Four For The Fourth!

PACKING IN CHRISTMAS!!

Many of you know that we were away for Christmas!

So the decorating was slim around here!

I decorated the kitchen chandy with my

 Norman Rockwell Cameo Collecton.

There were nine ornaments in the series depicting Santa from a first appearance through his exhausted finale on Christmas Night. The series ran from 1980 through 1988.

I really restricted my decoration to the breakfast area so of course I decorated the sideboard.

Everything is packed up til next year. I will soon share how the sideboard looks now. I am not quite satisfied with it yet.

We left here and traveled to Tennessee and Illinois.

We had a great time with family and friends.

We passed around the egg nog and the upper respitory infections. Much of the time I was wearing a surgical mask.

And No, I did not get a picture of that!

All of these figures are animated and musical. My grandson Jon and I loved to get them all going at once.

Hollie made this beautiful card holder. I meant to get a pic of the sweet advent calender she made.

ILLINOIS

Kim has been really ill the last six weeks so I was not allowed to take pics inside.

She did a total renovation on the outside this summer.

I think it looks so pretty. This was the extent of her Christmas decor. You can see it was a strange holiday for us but at least the meaning was not lost upon us.

We have each other and we are blessed.

Quebec City!

Quebec City is beautiful in the fall!

Kim and I were there just before Halloween and every thing was decorated beautifully.

The day I left, my plane was delayed in Savannah for more that two hours. I missed my connection in Philly and to be rerouted to Quebec City by way of Montreal.

I won't go into detail because I want to keep my post light in spirit. Let's just say my luggage arrive twenty-four hours behind me.

A light rain was falling as Kim and I had dinner in a wonderful little Italian restaurant. In Quebec City no less! I had a wonderful eggplant lasagna and an awesome French redwine recommended by the cutest Frenchy waiter. I don't know which I enjoyed most, the lasagna. the wine or the waiter. I think I was embarassing Kim with my flirting.

We spent the night at Hotel 71 just two blocks from our ship. That's our ship in the background.

We slept in, the next morning and had a good cup of coffee. After a call to the airlines regarding my luggage we headed out for the day. Our goal was to pick up a few incidentals for me and just enjoy the city. 

We had both visited Quebec City on several occassions so we didn't have a particuliar agenda.

We walked around in the lower city in the morning. There is always much to see. I love the winding streets and neat shops.

This was the neatest little shop. Here are a few things we found inside.

This clock is made from a perferrated cardboard ribbon wound tightly into a circle.

We could make that, couldn't we?

Everything along this wall is carved, solid, wood. I really wish I had made a purchase, even though they were pricy. I really loved the hat. It reminded of the hats my Daddy wore in the summer. It was the color of his handsome straw hats. 

Since penguins are actually birds, is this a flock or a gaggle?

I guess you can tell I like French men!

We played around the lower city for a while and then took the funicular up to the Le Château Frontenac.

It is impossible to get a good photo of this place, it is so incredibly large. 

We got these photos as we looked for a department store and pharmacy (lost luggage stuff).

From here we took a taxi down to the port and the ship. It was time to board but we would have one more day in this port. I will be posting more of our trip later.
