The color scheme is still Blue, White and Silver.

Bedroom Reveal/hidden window

At last!!
More than two plus years!
The hand trimmed border was a big deal in the 80's. It was an even bigger deal to my daughters.
The oriental screen hides a window. The community architectural demons committee said it had to be there.
Be damned what you have to do inside, put that window where they say!!
Two years ago it looked like this! It was beautiful in the 80's but life goes on. Under threat of demolition from my daughters, I began the daunting redecorating project.
Remember I promised a new window treatment Here goes!
That "dang" window is still there!

There's that window again!
Remember this tease picture several months ago. Yeh, Yeh, I know. I told you it took two years.

Some years ago I invested in an air powered upholstery staple.
If you love to do this sort of thing it is a wise purchase!
Now, isn't that better than the screen!
I had our carpenter build the support frame and I had plywood cut to fit. It was then a simple thing to pad and cover the front and sides. I purchased several fabrics but everything I brought home screamed! Kim had a linen look curtain panel left over from something and it worked perfect. The lined panel has been up for some time. We hung the picture (had been in the master bath) yesterday.
If you don't like a window, make it disappear!

Over the next two years:
I made curtains.

You can read about the curtains HERE.

I made a bedskirt.

You can read about the bedskirt HERE.

I made some pillows and a bolster.

I used an old Sarah Coventry brooch to add bling to the ribbon>

This was an existing pillow. I added roses made from the bolster fabric.

The decoration is another brooch. Since I have retired they don't get to come out and play often.
I am enjoying looking at them.
Boy, I have got to get a new camera. I thought I tweaked the colors.

I have finally gotten around to adding accessories. I am going to be quiet, maybe, and just show you some pics.

My two daughters.

Waterford stingray! Ever swim with them? I did, creepy though.

My spot to rest!
The camera is really playing tricks. My son says the colors, which all really do match, show up differently because the varied finishes absorb and reflect color differently. Works for me but I don't like it. Maybe a better camera?

My spot for a little respite!

I made this pillow also.

Did not make this one!

The picture frame.

A few textural closeups!

Obviously my side of the bed!

Vintage twin bedspread.
If you want a window to disappear,
HIDE IT!
Whew, If you made it this far, you must be exhausted!
I am, but it took me two years!
If you still have it in you, Please leave a comment. Let me know what you think.

IS IT SPRING OR WHAT!!

Disclosure!! I have no idea why I have this enormous space between the end of this post and comment link!! I have tried to correct through editing. It only gets worse. If anyone has the answer to this dilemma PLEASE HELP!!
I KNOW SOME OF YOU, IN OTHER AREAS,  ARE STILL LOOKING FOR SPRING.

I AM GETTING CABIN FEVER BUT AT LEAST SPRING HAS ARRIVED IN SAVANNAH!

WITH MY "SWEET OLD BOB'S" HELP,  I WAS ABLE TO BRING SPRINGTIME INSIDE.
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CARRY DISHES AND ACCESSORIES TO AND FRO WHILE USING A WALKER.  I ASKED BOB TO BRING WHAT I NEEDED TO THE TABLE.  HE WAS SO SWEET AND CUTE "TOTING" DISHES.
I will be using the kitchen table for awhile. It requires less dishes and is easier to navigate. You can see that Bob has already brought some dishes to the table. He is shaking his head but he keeps bringing "stuff" to the table.
THE TABLE IS AN ANTIQUE,  FROM AN INN,  IN ENGLAND.  IT IS NARROWER THAN MOST TABLES.
The table is rubbed every couple of months with teak oil. There are two additional 12 inch draw extensions.
My Daughter, in Illinois, brought these dishes to me in March. She found them in a thrift shop in southern Illinois.
She brought me the little pure white dishes but I won't be using them today. I will be using the turquoise and white. This was a set of 59 pieces that she purchased for $25.00. YES! For all of them.

THE STACKING PROCESS
This placemat is really turquoise as you will notice later.
This beautiful pattern is "Petal Lane" by Taylor-Smith-Taylor and the pattern is from the 50's. It is a soft white with a silver rim, delicate turquoise flowers with touches of pink. My first kitchen was turquoise...stove, oven, sink. The whole shabang!
 A generous sized soup/salad/pasta bowl
I am in love with the cup and saucer. Isn't it the cutest thing?
Today I am adding this fruit/berry bowl to hold another piece.
I mentioned this sherbet in my cupboard post HERE.
I purchased these with S and H Green Stamps in 1963. There wasn't a lot of money for dishes in those days.
Doesn't this say spring to you?  I love it. The napkins are a silver weave fabric and the silver is antique sterling introduced in 1902 by International Silversmiths. Pattern is Stratford. It is long since discontinued.

This pattern features carnations and exquisite detail on front and back. My skills and camera don't properly capture the detail.
Salad fork. Couldn't get good pic. Too much reflection.
Fruit spoon. Sorry about the pics. Pics don't do this silver justice.
I absolutely love this cup and saucer.

The orchid is a gift from a friend, this week. I hope my brown thumb doesn't kill it. Any tips for keeping orchids alive are appreciated.

I love the color inside the gravy boat and the detail on the ladle.

You can see the round tipped knife. That spot on the blade is not there. The blades are plate. You have seen the goblet before, it was thrifted.
It is so lovely now. My fingers are crossed.

The votives are from Dollar Tree

A small peek of the salt and pepper shakers and relish tray. Don't know where their closeups went.

I HOPE SPRING HAS ARRIVED WHERE YOU LIVE.
I ENJOYED SHARING SPRING IN MY KITCHEN.
