REMEMBERING YOSEMITE!

Today's news states
"Yosemite Fire 80% contained"
Source

Whether you have visited Yosemite or not, all Americans have followed the massive fires surrounding this American Treasure. The nation has reached out to the residents of the area with thoughts and prayers.
I wanted to post a tablescape that gives a nod to this great landmark. I hope you enjoy it.

STILL LOOKING FOR SPRING?

THIS IS A SPRING/EASTER TABLESCAPE FROM A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO.
I will have a new one Sunday, as my daughter will be
visiting from Illinois. I am waiting for her as we will
create the tablescape together.
Now I hope you will enjoy this look back!

I KNOW SOME OF YOU, IN OTHER AREAS,  ARE STILL LOOKING FOR SPRING.

LAZY DAISY

Taylor-Smith-Taylor
Lazy Daisy pattern just speaks
Spring and Summer!

This coffee service has been set up on the sideboard for more than a month.
I am an extremely busy woman
or
I am a totally discombobulated old broad!
(No vote necessary)
This pretty set of dishes was manufactured in the 1950s.
The bright white daisies and the soft green color
are a perfect look for this time of year.
The interior of each piece is mocha colored and the lids on the coffee pot and creamer are made of wood with  brass knobs. The design of the knobs is a giveaway to the mid-century origin.
If you take cream in your coffee be careful. You won't be able to see the coffee in your cup.
This adorable Tea Coffee Towel reminds us that the bees are a buzzin'. The silver colored bee is a pot sitter from Cracker Barrel.
The silver is International sterling, Stratford pattern,
introduced in 1902 and discontinued, some sources say 30s, some say 50s.

We move to the left side of the sideboard.
Here you will see a pair of ceramic vintage style boots. They are truly vintage because I made them in 1967.
They were a gift to my mother and unfortunately, in time, came back to me. They were matte black with gold eyelets when I gave them to Mom.
I used a pedestal cake plate for lift, added flowers and a snail, pot sitter. The jar of flowers is from the tray of bottles I won from Verbena Cottage.
The Hydrangeas are from my garden. The two colors are from the same bush. I needed small blossoms but they were very hard to find. I think these are really still in the bud stage.
The Daisies are faux as mine are doing poorly.
Sorry, I HAD to have Daisies!
I love the detail in the shoes. At times I forget they are ceramic. The visible creases mimic normal wear.
Also at this end, the footed server and Gerber Daisy dessert plates await the blueberry scones.
The scones arrived shortly after the shoot. They tasted good but were not photo worthy. That's a story for another day, let's just say "lost keys". We won't discuss how many I ate. Bob insisted on storing his extra (American) biscuit with the scones.
International Brotherhood!
I removed the bottle of flowers so you could see more detail in the shoes.
I have always wished I had some shoes like these.
I should have called this post "Ginger Loves Shoes".

I hope you have enjoyed your visit today. If you did please comment, I love to read the sound of your voice.

Woodland Table

I had several pieces
that inspired this simple tablescape
For Two
I picked up this basket many years ago at a consignment store.
I couldn't decide if the handle was wood or horn. With some help, I finally decided it is wood.
My son brought this adorable pitcher to me from
Yosemite National Park.

No, this is not a shoe for "bigfoot".
I bought this wooden bowl/plate from the same consignment store.
It was made by Jack Carpenter
In Brasstown, N. C.
Mr. Carpenter retired in September 2011
after being at the school for fifty years.
This is a facinating place
you can read at the above link.

I have to mention "Bob's" Bob glasses. My daugher gave him a set and he loves to use them.
This one says "Looking good Bob".
I start with these neat placemats
embroidered with pinecones
From the Dollar Tree, yep, $1.00 each
 Natural woven charger with
Smith Taylor Smith "Sierra Brown"
 Taylor Smith Taylor salad plate
"Reveille"
 TST "Sierra Brown" bowl
The soup crocks were gifts from daughters in the
"Twelve Days of Christmas" spectacular of 2009
 Homespun napkins, gift from Kim.
I plan to jazz them up for another table.
Flatware from Horchow. There are a lot of these
in blogland. I like the black that I have seen.

I dug up the ornamental cabbage from the flower beds.
The fern is from the front porch
and the Lantana is still blooming.
Since this was a table for two I put the fru fru at the other end of the table.
I already had the two natural orbs.
R. D.(red dog), my granddog and I enjoyed our walk to gather lichen. We also chased a few squirrels.
I even treed one, but R. D. made me move along.
This litle log is actually a squirrel feeder
turned votive holder.
Not sure my little friend is happy about the upcycling.

Sweet little family but I wouldn't want
to mess with THEM in the wild!
