Whether you have visited Yosemite or not, all Americans have followed the massive fires surrounding this American Treasure. The nation has reached out to the residents of the area with thoughts and prayers.
I wanted to post a tablescape that gives a nod to this great landmark. I hope you enjoy it.
I originally posted this table February, 2013 but you will see why it reminds me of Yosemite National Park.

I had several pieces
that inspired this simple tablescape

I picked up this basket many years ago at a consignment store.
I couldn't decide if the handle was wood or horn. With some help, I finally decided it is wood.
My son brought this adorable pitcher to me from
Yosemite National Park.

It was made by Jack Carpenter
at the John C. Campbell Folk School
In Brasstown, N. C.
Mr. Carpenter retired in September 2011
after being at the school for fifty years.

I have to mention "Bob's" Bob glasses. My daugher gave him a set and he loves to use them.

"Twelve Days of Christmas" spectacular of 2009
Homespun napkins, gift from Kim.
I plan to jazz them up for another table.
Flatware from Horchow. There are a lot of these
in blogland. I like the black that I have seen.
I dug up the ornamental cabbage from the flower beds.
The fern is from the front porch
and the Lantana is still blooming.
Since this was a table for two I put the fru fru at the other end of the table.
I already had the two natural orbs.
R. D.(red dog), my granddog and I enjoyed our walk to gather lichen. We also chased a few squirrels.
I even treed one, but R. D. made me move along.
This litle log is actually a squirrel feeder
turned votive holder.
Not sure my little friend is happy about the upcycling.
Sweet little family but I wouldn't want
to mess with THEM in the wild!
These little babies are around my house all year.
I hope you enjoyed this simple woodland table.
This table is dedicated to all the animals and nearby residents displaced by this terrible fire. Pray for them!

Oh my friend, you've created an outstanding and stunning table in honor of wonderful Yosemite National Prk. I was there many, many eons ago with my parents and it's so sad what's going on..Lord!

Yosemite is one of my MOST favorite places. I have been many times and I still want to go back. Your table is so rustic and perfect for your theme. That bear pitcher is just darling. Dianne

You really have collected and/or acquired some wonderful pieces over the years-especially that piece of folk art by the man that retired. Love it. I love your woodsy tablescape, Ginger. I have been to Yosemite and love it there. We hiked and I could not walk for 2 weeks afterwards, lol. I love your basket and the pitcher. The bsket is so unusual and I love how you added the plants in it....Christine

Ginger, Thank you, thank you for this wonderful tribute to Yosemite!! I have been heartsick over the damage being done there and am hoping it will stop soon. I know, as a plant bio major (eons ago...), that from the fire new growth will emerge, but still... We have Yosemite on our list of places to go soon when hubby retires. Your table is amazing!!! I just love all the additions like the squirrels and the bears (!!) and your narrative too. Thank you for sharing! Linda

Very sad facts and they suspect even that it is terrorist related.
That already was mentioned last year. This would be awful as so many homes get destroyed and lives are lost... A very coward way of attacking our beautiful country!

What a fabulous table and such a nice tribute. Your centerpieces just knocked me over! It reminded me of Girl's Camp when I was young. At the end of the week we would find a lot and decorate it and then say something we had learned that week as we put it into the fire. It was like this cool ceremony!

Hi Ginger! Oh, I know. These fires are so scary and I pray no lives or property will be lost. Now your table is a wonderful tribute! Love your dishes, accessories and those darling bears! Now your froo froo at the other end of the table is so pretty. I love the cones and natural things in the brad bowl.

Love this woodsy table and it definitely reminds me of my trip to Yosemite! That basket has incredibly interesting shape and I love what you did with it. Great details all over the table - thanks for honoring the Yosemite area. I am so thankful that I have never had to live with fires - just one major flood in 1994!

ReplyDeleteThe fires are such a horrible thing...We visited Yellowstone years ago and saw the remains of that awful fire they had many years ago...such beauty that is destroyed....your table is just so beautiful with the woodland theme...love that bear pitcher your son gave to you...a great memory of Yosemite...
ReplyDeletePlaying catch up on emails and this one caught my eye!! I love your Savannah Granny Blog! My son-in-law was on that awful "rim" fire for 20 days straight. He said it was very scary! Bless his heart and all the other fire personnel that helped to get it under control. We have had smoke in the valley where I live(near Fresno)for weeks. We don't go to Yosemite often but I can remember as a child when we had relatives come to California from Mississippi(my Granny) they always wanted to go to Yosemite! I will tell my family of your sweet tribute!
