Come Sit In The Shade With Me!

is a truly beautiful Place!

I want to share a secret with you!
All the beauty is not downtown!
A while back, my youngest daughter and I were out
shopping and decided to detour through 
a south side neighborhood.
What I saw caused me to have her turn around, 
go back and let me take a photo.
In Savannah, moss draped live oaks 
are a dime a dozen.
But Wait!!
There's More!
This lovely specimen is growing in the median. 
Still dime a dozen.
But Wait!
There's More!!
You can judge the size of this giant of a tree in comparison to the house and surroundings.
This beautiful Live Oak Tree, our state tree, 
with its graceful moss draped limbs has grown over the street.  One of the massive limbs has created a magical arch under which to drive, resting the end of the bough on the lawn across the street.

I can show you all the well know attractions
in our lovely city and there are many.
However, I am constantly amazed at the beauty of our suburban neighborhoods. This was such a neat 
surprise, I just had to share.

    Ginger, gorgeous pictures, I have never been to Savannah. I have been to Marietta and Atlanta many times, but from what I can see Savannah is the place to be!

    Wonderful! I LOVE your Savannah, Ginger! I used to sell my chalkware to the Christmas Shop (I designed their sign, too ~ are you familiar with the shop?...It's on Bull, in what I believe was a car dealership showroom ages ago ~ a really neat building!) Anyway, I've just found your lovely blog, and I'm a new follower ~ So nice to meet you!

    Stunning, stunning. I'd love to lie under the tree and stare at the tree all day. I'd probably talk on my little Tracfone SVC phone all day, my new phone for seniors with the bigger keys and letters so I don't need my specs to make a call.
    I'm a tree hugger and I remember at the beginning of the year seeing a current murder mystery book with a tree like this on the cover in a very misty setting, with a grave yard nearby, it really added to the eerie, spooky feeling you get looking at the book cover. This tree looks so connected to spirituality, kinda like the chinottes (sinkholes filled with freshwater and cave like stalactites and stalacmites) in Mexico where for 100's of years Mexicans felt there was a very spiritual connection there.

    I want to visit Savannah other than down in the historic district however I fly in and just stay downtown and catch the tour buses and taxi's around down town

    keep showing pictures about Savannah

    A lady LuLu in Maryland won the Savannah cookbook and she SKINNY LOL

    mmmm, perhaps it has been ten years since I have been in Savannah. My husband and I took the tolley and saw so many interesting things. I adore Savannah...the moss, the old buildings, the iron railings, the churches...what an amazing place.

    I truly love Savannah...I love the islands that surround it...Wilmington, Tybee, and others...We have dear friends who used to live on Wilmington, but are now on St. Simons Island....the entire coastal area of Georgia is so magnificent...You are very blessed to live there!!

    I've never been to your fair city and REALLY WANT to visit! I can't tell you how many times I've told my hubbie, but I don't think he's heard me yet. ;) ;) Do you know the age of that oak tree? It is just stunning! You are blessed to live in such a beautiful part of the country.

    Dearest Ginger,

    You sure are selling our great state of Georgia! Savannah is one of the prettiest, if not THE prettiest city in Georgia. Love the Spanish moss, it is so romantic and makes one want to take photos or create a drawing, painting of it.
    Those that never visited, don't know what they miss out on. It is the combination of the romantic era that lies way behind us, within the reality of NOW.

    Ginger, thanks for making me stop and take a look around. I too live in this fabulous city, and sometimes I don't even notice all the beauty. I was however driving down Washington Ave the other day and pointing out the beautiful arched oaks to my children. It was stunning!
